FAQs

  • How do I install First Class for All?
After downloading, find the installer program, it will be located in the folder your browser uses to download into, usually, “Downloads”.

On a PC look for PCFCInstaller.zip
On a Mac look for MacFCInstaller.zip

Double click the appropriate file and unzip it. READ the “Read me” file.

On a PC, double click the file “FCInstaller.exe” and follow the instructions on the screen.

On a Mac, unzip the FCInstaller.zip file. Then double click the FCInstaller.app and follow the instructions on the screen.

After clicking the “Finished” button, the installer will start the program FCLauncher. FCLauncher is the program that you will always start FCA with. You can use the short cut (alias) that has been placed on your desktop.

The FCLauncher will then begin to download and save the necessary files from the internet. It depends on your internet speed just how long this will take, but be assured, it will finish.

On a PC that has First Class v2 installed. Once the necessary files to install FCA have been copied you will be given an option to copy and convert your FCv2 user data. There are 3 possible answers that are given to you when the system asks if you want to convert your FCv2 data.
First, “YES” this option will immediately start the conversion. It will not alter or delete any of you FCv2 program files or data, on move your user-enter information into the new FCA system.
Second, “NO” this option will not convert anything and you will not be given a chance to do so again!
Third, “LATER” this option will not convert anything but each time you launch FCA, you will be given the opportunity to convert your FCv2 data. Only by answering “YES” or “NO” will stop the system from asking this question upon launch.

After all the necessary files are download, First Class will open to the AVML tab and you will then be able to begin using First Class for All!
  • I have First Class version 2 on my PC, but I want to use my FCA(Mac). Do I have to re-enter all of my User Database plants?
No! You can export your user database from FCv2 and then import it into FCA(Mac). All of the information about your plants and their pictures will come across to FCA(mac). Notes are not exported from FCv2. You will have to re-enter any notes that you want to retain. You might want to save the export file to a thumb drive on the PC so that you can plug it into the Mac to move the information.

If your computers are networked together, just navigate while on the Mac to the directory on the PC where you saved the export files. Select the file on the Mac, then import. The “Import” button is on the lower left side of the “User Database” tab window. CLICK HERE to watch an instructional video on the User Database function in FCA.
  • Can I export my User Database to someone that has FCv2?
Yes! Just indicate that you want the export to use the FCv2 format when building the files. This will be one of the prompts after you click the “Export” button on the lower left side of the “User Database” tab window. Be aware that the Notes are not imported into FCv2.
  • Some of the Database update files indicate that they are not in my “subscription”. What’s the deal?
When you purchased First Class for All you received six months of updates from the time of purchase. You were emailed a password to enter into your copy of FC for All.

If it has been less than 6 months since you purchased, did you enter the password that you were sent into the system? Check the password that is listed on the “Update Database” screen and the one you received from AVSA.

If it has been longer than six months and you did not purchase an additional year when you bought FCA, you will need to go to the AVSA web site and purchase another year of updates. AVSA will email the password that corresponds with the expiration of you subscription to the updating service.
